Walking a Judas
It was Jidáš (Judas), who betrayed, and a parade of boys 5-15 years old reminds that in almost 30 villages in Eastern Bohemia. On Holy Saturday, the boys cover one of them with a mask and entangle him in hay, straw or hempen. The parade perambulates in a village, walking Jidáš, with rhyme judges his betrayal and boys are rewarded in single houses.
This long time lasting tradition is recorded in a list of intangible objects of traditional and folk culture in the Czech Republic.
